WHO: Charles Slover, South East representative for the “CapTel” captioning telephone will be giving a free demonstration for people who struggle to hear on the telephone.

WHEN: September 13, 2017 at 6 p.m.

WHERE: AT the Hear Now Support group which meets every Wednesday at the Oakwood Baptist Church 4501 Bonny Oaks Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416

WHY: Ideal for people with some degree of hearing loss, the Captioned Telephone, or CapTel, works like any other telephone with one important addition: It displays every word the caller says throughout the conversation. CapTel phone users can listen to the caller, and read the written captions in the CapTel’s bright display window.

This is a public service effecting the lives of many hard of hearing people. It has change the lives of thousands of people who want to communicate on the telephone.

HOW MUCH: The cost to get a CapTel telephone is FREE. Attend the meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017 to register.

The CapTel equipment is provided free through the state’s Equipment Distribution Program.
